Prada’s Neon Dream
Sarah Paulson/Amanda Murphy Star in Short
Fresh off a performance in Ocean’s Eight and an Emmy nomination for her role in American Horror Story: Cult, Hollywood star and Golden Globe-winning actor Sarah Paulson joins the likes of Stranger Things, Glow, Black Mirror and many others in their fascination with 80’s nostalgia. Bright neon colors, bold fashion statements, and a constant nightclub-like atmosphere all feature in Prada’s fall preview film Neon Dream in which Paulson makes a stunning cameo.
Starring alongside American model Amanda Murphy, Paulson plays the role of a guardian angel figure for Murphy. Taking the form of everything from valet to waitress, and even Marilyn Monroe, Paulson constantly interacts with Murphy and yet there is always some unspoken distance between them as if Paulson is admiring her as a work of art.
Belgian director Willy Vanderperre underpins his smoky 80s short film with an equally dark trance music score that only draws us in more to the tempting danger of this night on the sunset strip. Serving as a preview of Prada’s fall/winter catalogue, the film seamlessly implants their upcoming pieces into this provocative video.
Paulson herself described her affinity for the Italian fashion brand in a recent interview with Vogue, “Everybody has their favorite designers, the things that make them feel the most like themselves when they put it on, and Prada is that for me.” Whether she’s strutting her look on the red carpet or stealing our hearts on screen, Paulson knows how to get our attention and her role in “Neon Dream” is no exception.
