Steamy Streaming February
Sexy Shows And Movies To Stream Right Now
Valentine’s Day might just be a meaningless Hallmark Holiday, but we’ll take any excuse to cuddle up with the one we love and, as the old saying goes, “Netflix and Chill.”
Here are ten sexy programs to stream with that special someone on a cold February night.
The FX network is home to such iconic shows as Rescue Me, The Shield, and American Crime Story, all revered classics in their own right. Still, our favorite might just be The Americans, a Cold War thriller about a Soviet sleeper cell in America. But enough about Donald Trump; the show has a tight mix of spy games, gritty assassination, and raw sexuality, courtesy of stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. Catch up on Amazon Prime before the series returns in March.
Eyes Wide Shut
Initially censored in its original release, this final film from legendary director Stanley Kubrick would eventually get an unrated Blu ray release… Get that one. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman circa 1999 were just about the sexiest movie stars who ever lived, and Eyes Wide Shut is a gripping commentary on the loosened connections between marriage, relationships, and sex… And a lot of Venetian masks. See for yourself on Netflix!
One of the most commercially successful movies ever made (to the tune of over two billion dollars worldwide), Titanic is a universal blockbuster that appeals to every audience; it’s a harrowing adventure, a historical drama, and a rousing – or, rather, arousing – romance complete with steamy windows and the hand-drawn image of Kate Winslet‘s beautiful, naked body. It’s currently off of Netflix, but you can still buy it on Amazon Video or iTunes.
We hate to break it to you, but love fades and everything dies. Whether or not that’s true is up for debate, but it’s the central theme of Blue Valentine, the heartbreaking drama starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling. Jumping back and forth through time to the outset of a whirlwind romance and its inevitable collapse years later, Blue Valentine can be rough to watch, especially for those expecting little more than just Williams and Gosling going at it like Catholic rabbits. Check it out on Amazon Video.
Many television fans know David Duchovny solely for his role as Fox Mulder on The X-Files, but true TV addicts also appreciated his work in the celebrated Showtime original series, Californication. Duchovny stars as Hank Moody, an author suffering from a bad case of writer’s block, who embarks on an odyssey of sex, drugs, and rock and roll on the seedy side of Los Angeles in search of inspiration and happiness. The pilot earned significant ire from conservative groups for a scene in which Moody fantasizes about getting down and dirty with a nun. In church! Stream it on Hulu… But maybe not in public.
Blue is the Warmest Color
Praised for its intimate script and romantic eroticism, though criticized for its extensive and exploitative use of the male gaze while exploring a lesbian relationship, Blue is the Warmest Color is nonetheless a gorgeous adaptation of the 2010 French graphic novel of the same name. Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos deliver so much through their performances, to say nothing of their extremely explicit sex scenes. Catch it on Amazon Video or iTunes.
The Little Death
This Australian erotic comedy shows the funnier side of sexuality. Boundary pushing, yet still heartfelt and sincere, The Little Death follows a small suburban community and the various fetishes of its residents, and the amusing trouble they get into as a result of those fetishes. Despite its taboo subject matter and sudden escalations, The Little Death is still a jolly little movie which should not be missed! Find this hidden gem on Netflix.
The Concubine was kind of overlooked during its initial 2012 release as a result of its poor marketing, which basically advertised the film as little more than a softcore porno with fancy costumes, but the actual film is so much more than that reductive assessment. A historical erotic thriller about love, revenge, duty, and honor, The Concubine is a beautiful movie, and we’re not just talking about Cho Yeo-jeong‘s extensive nude scenes. Watch in on Netflix.
What more can be said about Basic Instinct? It’s one of the most iconic erotic thrillers of all time. Sharon Stone is simultaneously hot like a spark and cold as ice, smoking cigarettes and wearing tight dresses while walking circles around the police detective (Michael Douglas) investigating a series of grisly murders to which she is intimately connected. TLDR: it’s hot. See it. But skip the ill-advised sequel, which lacked the subversive touch of director Paul Verhoeven. Buy the original on Amazon Video, and – if you dare – catch part two on Hulu.
Young people are crazy, but we’ll be damned if Millennials aren’t fun to watch. The original UK version of Skins was like 90210 for the new generation, but with the intensity cranked up to a fever pitch. The buzz generated by the series led to a short-lived American remake on MTV, but it came and went with little fanfare and was cancelled after only one season. The original, though? Still a classic! Don’t believe us? The entire series is streaming on Netflix, so get out there and binge!
