Handmaid’s Tale Returns

And Elisabeth Moss is Angry AF, praise be.

Things are about to get real in The Handmaids Tale‘s dystopian world. As horrific as Gilead was ins season one, it’s going to get worse. Way worse.

To recap, when we last saw our protagonist, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) she was pregnant and being taken away in a dark van, destination unknown. Was she being punished for not throwing stones, thus killing fellow handmaid, Jeanine (Madeline Brewer)? Or was she being whisked away to a safety? Um, no, that’s not going to happen in this blood-curdling feminist thriller. Almost every option ahead of Offred is as dangerous and violent as the last.

Here’s what we do know:
Rather than 10 episodes, we’re being blessed with 13, praise be.

Writer Margaret Atwood is participating in season 2, helping with plotting and busy writing up possible plotlines for the producers to follow. No word on whether she’ll make a cameo appearance as she did in the season one.

Offered bestie, Moira (Samira Wiley) has escaped toCanada and in cahoots with June’s husband, Luke (O-T Fagbenie).

Offred’s mom is going to be in season 2, played by the always-impeccable actor, Cherry Jones (Transparent). We got goose bumps upon seeing her with a teenaged June in the trailer below.

There is a new girl in town called Eden, a fifteen year old who is pro-Gilead and has her hungry little eye on the Commander (Joseph Finnes). She’s ready to get rid of wife #1 (Yvonne Strahovski) to be wife #2, making Offred obsolete.

Of course, there’s more awful, scary, wince-inducing stuff coming to us when the show returns on Hulu on April 25th.

In the meantime, take a look at all of the trailers and get ready to turn off your phone and be completely unavailable on Wednesday nights, so you can watch each show the moment it airs. That what we’ll be doing!
