The Singer Delivers Stunning Songs on Live Radio
It’s not always a guarantee that a musician’s music will translate well in a live performance. However, Los Angeles-based singer Miguel proves that his singing prowess is not just limited to the recording studio with a stunning live performance on Australian radio program Triple J.
Born Miguel John Pimentel, the 32 year old artist has been a mainstay in the R&B scene since his debut album All I Want Is You dropped back in 2010. With songs like “Sure Thing,” Miguel not only demonstrates his vocal talent but also a penchant for creating catchy, sexy hooks that are sure to be on baby-making playlists for years to come.
In addition to his latest album, War & Leisure, which was released in November 2017, Miguel has been busy lending his talents on several features and remixes. One such remix of note is his chill anthem “Waves” that was rehashed by Australian Indie powerhouse Tame Impala in 2016.
Like many other artists before him, Miguel recently took his act to the studio of Triple J, a government funded radio program that boasts a wonderful playlist of musicians performing covers every Friday. Cleverly named Like A Version, after the Madonna hit, the series has hosted the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, Phoenix, as well as artists from Australia and around the world.
Covering the Red Hot Chili Peppers song “Porcelain” of their iconic album Californication, Miguel effortlessly croons on the slow moving piece.
As if this wasn’t enough to convince you of the enormous talent that Miguel is, he also provided an energetic performance of his original “Pineapple Skies” that had us feeling vestiges of Marvin Gaye’s classic “Sexual Healing”.
With a Latin album in the works, Miguel shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon and we couldn’t be more excited to hear what’s to come.
