Ellie Goulding in Budapest
She Joins Diplo and Swae Lee on Close To Me
Ellie Goulding and Diplo’s new music video for “Close to Me,” which features up-and-comer Swae Lee, will ignite the wanderlust in anyone. The video shows the stunning views of Budapest, Hungary, which might be one of the reasons it has earned more than six million views on YouTube.
The opening shots of the video show a bird’s eye view of the beautiful city, including gorgeous views along the Danube River, which runs through the heart of Budapest. Historic landmarks also receive screen time, like St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Hungarian Parliament Building.
Goulding gets the ultimate pleasure of luxuriously strutting around the notable buildings in outfits that match the prestige. In fact, the costumes and sights are the main attractions in the video. When Goulding first appears, she dons a green and black dress with a black head piece, matching the ornate lamps and architecture in the background. Then the viewers get a glimpse of a puffy, white dress and see Goulding in a suit with see-through tulle. Goulding changes outfits four more times, all of them spectacular. There’s a floral, long-sleeved dress, an arty dress, a sexy rhinestone dress and a simple hot pink ball gown.
Lee isn’t as fortunate to have an extravagant background. It seems he’s in a park, but it doesn’t make his verse any less important to the song and video. Lee was recently featured on the Post Malone track “Sunflower,” which is for the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Goulding, on the other hand, is not new to the music industry. The U.K. singer has two top-10 hits: 2012’s “Lights” and Fifty Shades of Grey single “Love Me Like You Do.” “Close To Me” marks the first collaboration between Los Angeles-based DJ Diplo and Goulding.
