The Maroon 5 Singer Knows What Lovers Do

In 2002, the L.A. rock band Kara’s Flowers reformed as Maroon 5 and released their debut record Songs About Jane, which became an instant hit with songs like “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved.” 15 years later, Maroon 5 released their sixth studio album Red Pill Blues with its lead single “What Lovers Do” featuring SZA, a Neo Soul singer from St. Louis.

The single’s music video features Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, literally, chasing after SZA through various scenarios with no regard for his own safety. It mirrors the band’s meteoric rise during the early 2000s with the decision to break up Kara’s Flowers and re-launch their sound and style as Maroon 5. It was a very risky move, but it worked out for the band and Adam Levine, who received most of the spotlight as the lead singer. In fact, People Magazine named him “Sexiest Man of the Year” in 2013.

Throughout the years, Levine collaborated with other recording artists on songs  like “Heard ‘Em Say” from Kanye West and “Say It Again” from British singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield.

Levine managed to break into film and television with appearances in the movie Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and a host on the reality TV show The Voice on NBC. He even hosted Saturday Night Live a few times. Levine continues to bounce around with ease in the media world going from film/TV to music on a regular basis.

In 2014, Adam Levine married Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo. The couple have a daughter named Dusty Rose Levine and are expecting a second child in 2018.

Maroon 5 also received a lot of critical praise and awards from the recording industry. Along with nine nominations, the band won three Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal for “She Will Be Loved,” “This Love,” and “Makes Me Wonder.”

Red Pill Blues is available now in stores and online.
