Joe Alwyn is Gorgeous

Taylor Swift's BF is Our New "Favourite" Actor

It’s been quite a year for Joe Alwyn. The up and coming British actor has not only landed in some of 2018’s most important films, he’s also somehow managed to endure almost two full spins around the sun as the boyfriend of musician Taylor Swift. Don’t pretend you don’t understand that joke. Tay-Tay is fay-fay for being cray-cray when it comes to her men. Just sayin’. But she did pen the fabulous single, “Gorgeous,” for her beau, and we couldn’t agree more.

She’s been super supportive of Joe, who has been walking a lot of red carpets in the past few months. After breaking everyone’s hearts in 2016 for his lead role in the PTSD drama, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, he had a small role in mystery/drama The Sense of an Ending (2017), clearly saving his energy for 2018.

He starts out in the Oscar Isaac thriller Operation Finale, playing a bourgeoning Nazi living in Argentina, whose father happens to be the infamous Nazi executioner, Adolph Eichmann. In The Favourite, he’s the sexy and very funny husband of Queen Anne’s favorite bedchamber maid, Abigail Masham (Emma Stone). Speaking of favourites, Joe plays one himself in this season’s other bodice-busting drama, Mary Queen of Scots. You’ll see him making lots of googley eyes at Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie) since he plays Robert Dudley, her lover and main suitor throughout the film. As for his role in Boy Erased, well, let’s just say Joe’s lucky he’s so damn cute and known to be a good guy because he’s so realistic as Jared’s (Lucas Hedges) potential boyfriend-turned-rapist, it’s like a kick in the gut.

We wish we had some footage to show of Joe’s next project, Harriet. Starring the darling Cynthia Eviro as American hero and abolitionist Harriet Tubman, Joe will most likely not be playing a good guy in the film, but he will most definitely still be hella hot. The boy can’t help it.

Operation Finale is available on Amazon Prime, Boy Erased is in theaters now, The Favourite opens November 23rd, and Mary Queen of Scots opens December 7th.
