Hot Summer Nights

Timothée Chalamet's New Sexy Romance

Timothée Chalamet’s latest film, the romantic drama Hot Summer Nights, was supposed to be released in 2017, having made its debut at the South By Southwest Film Festival last year. But that would have simply been an embarrassment of riches for fans of the 22-year-old native New Yorker.

You see, 2017 was pretty much Chalamet’s “year,” having co-starred as Saoirse Ronan‘s boyfriend in the Oscar-nominated film, Lady Bird, and garnering his own Oscar nod in the gorgeous love story, Call Me By Your Name—FYI he’s the youngest man to be nominated since Mickey Rooney in 1939. He also appeared in the Christian Bale western, Hostiles in 2017. So we’re happy Hollywood is spreading the wealth a bit with Chalamet’s incredible talent, and waited a year to release this sexy coming-of-age drama.

Set in 1991, Hot Summer Nights follows Daniel (Chalamet), a naïve teen whose mother makes the not-so-smart decision to drop him off at her sister’s place for the summer. It doesn’t take long for Daniel to fall in with the bad crowd of Cape Cod and start dabbling in petty crimes. As the sticky title suggests, Daniel falls in lust with the local snotty hottie (Maika Monroe, so good in The Tribes of Palos Verdes) and proceeds down a dark and tempting path of delinquency.

Well-received at SXSW 2017, Hot Summer Nights opens on the perfect day for its sultry subject: July 27th.
