HBO’s Fahrenheit 451

Michael B. Jordan Burns Up the Screen

Ray Bradbury’s dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451 may have been written 65 years ago, but with the current administration’s fear of the press along with its distortion of historical record, the upcoming HBO film adaptation feels a little too close to reality for comfort. Of course, that won’t stop us from watching what looks to be a fantastic movie.

The flawless Michael B. Jordan—his participation in the spectacular Black Panther more than makes up for the dud, Fantastic Four—stars as Guy Montag, a firefighter whose job it is to burn all books. Science nerds know that the temperature to burn paper is 451 degrees Fahrenheit. When Montag meets a young mutineer played by Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde) and begins to question his job and society’s future, he becomes a rebel with a cause.

Montag’s mentor-turned-adversary, Fire Captain Beatty, is played by perpetual badass, Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water). Clearly, Montag is going to have a fight on his hands if he wants to escape the bleak future he’s been tasked with protecting.

Fahrenheit 451 is due out in May.
