Dakota Johnson Fever
Thrills and Chills in Suspiria
Now that Dakota Johnson is “freed” from the Fifty Shades franchise, all eyes are on the beautiful and talented offspring of Hollywood icons Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith to see what she does next. In addition to a supporting role in the high-concept thriller, Bad Times at the El Royale, she is starring in the highly-anticipated remake of 1977’s Suspiria.
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, who previously worked with Dakota on A Bigger Splash, Suspiria follows young woman who joins a world-renowned dance troupe only to discover that they are somehow involved in a spate of grisly murders with a potentially supernatural twist. Tilda Swinton and Chloë Grace Moretz co-star. One particularly notable addition is Jessica Harper, who played the Dakota Johnson role in the original. It’s nice to see a remake feature a core member of the original cast in a pivotal role, and not just a walk-on cameo.
Hopes are high for Suspiria, and the trailer is already making headlines for its provocative tone, as well as the intriguing musical score by Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke. The final film is sure to be a haunting and uncomfortable odyssey in the same vein as the original, and we can’t wait to see it for ourselves when Suspiria hits theters on November 2.
Here’s a trailer for the original 1977 classic, directed by Dario Argento, father of actor Asia Argento.
