Anne Hathaway’s Hustle
She Stars in Ocean's 8 and a Sexy Thriller
Welcome back, Anne Hathaway! After taking a couple of years off from acting to have her baby boy, Jonathan, the actress is back with three films this year and four in preproduction, including a live-action feature called Barbie, about a doll kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect. Clearly not typecasting.
Next month Hathaway joins the legion of fellow award-winning actors starring in the heist comedy of the year, Ocean’s 8. Not that we’re keeping track, but the eight main cast members (Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Sarah Paulson, and Rihanna to name a few) have won four Oscars, two Emmys, eight Grammys, six Golden Globes, five BAFTAs, and 10 SAGs combined. The hoity toity crew are on a mission to steal the most valuable necklace on earth, which is about to make its debut at the Met Gala. Talk about good timing.
Also this month, Hathaway stretches those comic muscles in The Hustle, another all-female remake based on the 1988 film, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Rather than Michael Cain and Steve Martin, The Hustle stars the always hilarious Rebel Wilson and Hathaway as a pair of con artists ruthlessly competing for the riches of the same mark (Tim Blake Nelson).
In October, Hathaway reunites with her Interstellar costar, Matthew McConaughey in the sexy noir thriller, Serenity. McConaughey plays a fishing boat captain living in the Caribbean, whose past comes back to haunt him. Diane Lane, who knows a thing or two about sexy noir thrillers (Unfaithful) is his love interest and Jason Clarke (Mudbound) plays Hathaway’s wealthy husband. Something tells us Clarke isn’t long for this world.
As happy as we are when stellar women like Hathaway procreate, especially when they have sons they can raise well, we are equally as thrilled to have our Annie Hathaway back on the screen. All is right in the world again.
Ocean’s 8 opens June 8th; The Hustle hits screens June 29th; and Serenity is out October 19th.
