Andrew Jarecki’s All Good Things is a fictionalized 2010 account of the murder of Kathie Durst, for which Kathie’s husband, real-estate scion Robert Durst, was suspected but never prosecuted. Jarecki, a documentary filmmaker (Capturing the Friedmans), was eventually contacted by the real Robert Durst because of All Good Things, which he saw and, in a strangely detached way, liked. That led to Durst consenting to making The Jinx with Jarecki, the HBO documentary about his life that eventually led to Durst being arrested in 2015 for the murder of his friend Susan Berman in Los Angeles. In All Good Things, Ryan Gosling plays the Durst-like role, Kirsten Dunst is his wife, and Frank Langella is his disapproving multimillionaire dad.
