Trippy magic from the electro-pop duo

British electro-pop duo Goldfrapp (Alison Goldfrapp, and Will Gregory) are back at last, with a hypnotic new single “Anymore.” It’s the lead-in to their upcoming new album, Silver Eye, due out March 31 on Mute Records. This is the first album from Goldfrapp since Tales of Us in 2013, and well worth the wait. This next year will be Goldfrapp’s seventeenth year as electro-pop’s reigning king and queen and Silver Eye features a stellar list of collaborators, including producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Wild Beasts), electronic composer Bobby Krlic (aka the Haxan Cloak), Brian Eno collaborator and guitarist Leo Abrahams, and mixing engineer David Wrench (The xx, FKA twigs).

“Anymore” was shot in Fuerteventura, a volcanic island that’s part of the Canaries off the coast of Africa. Its stark beauty is the perfect setting for the surreal mood and futuristic feel of this song. About their creative process, Alison Goldfrapp has said, “We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.” This is evident in “Anymore.” You can see for yourself in the video, above.
