First up is The Vault (September 1st), a thriller in which he plays a mealy-mouthed banker who leads a band of robbers to a haunted vault full of cash and eye-melting horror in, wait for it, the basement! In HBO‘s The Deuce September 15th), we get Franco times two, with him taking on dual roles as mob-linked twin brothers in New York’s burgeoning porn industry circa 1972.
But the most intriguing and definitely his funniest endeavor this year is his role as Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist, about the real-life creator of The Room, the undisputed—and beloved—“worst” movie ever made.
With five projects already on his schedule for next year, it doesn’t look like Franco will be taking any time off, like, ever. But we don’t mind a little pretty-boy overkill. With his jovial attitude and obvious work ethic, the name James Franco is always a welcome sight on a movie marquee.
