Robert Pattinson smolders on film
It’s been almost ten years since the Twilight films made Robert Pattinson a heartthrob and secured his membership in People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” club. In terms of his film choices, the British actor has been shying away from that hunky title ever since, choosing less flashy or secondary roles in projects like David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, and last month’s The Lost City of Z, in which he is almost unrecognizable as the heavily bearded explorer Henry Costin.
Devotees of the smoldering star were left very satisfied when he became the face for Dior Homme Eau for Men in 2013, and was the seductive subject of the book, Robert Pattinson: 1000 Lives by the always-interesting photographer Nan Goldin. Those ROBsessed fans hoping for a return of the “Edward Cullen” magnetism on screen, can look forward to seeing Pattinson in the western comedy Damsel and Good Time, in which he plays a down-on-his-luck bank robber later this year.
Finally, let’s not forget Pattinson’s best acting to date: keeping his cool—and his chiseled chin up–when his then-girlfriend and Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart was very publicly caught having an affair with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. Not only did he handle the embarrassment with quiet grace, he’s since moved on to dating the immensely attractive singer, FKA Twigs, who is now his fiancée. Sexy Couple Alert!
